What is Linux best used for?

Linux is a versatile operating system that’s well-suited for:

  1. Servers: Linux is a popular choice for web servers, database servers, and cloud infrastructure due to its stability, security, and customizability.
  2. Development: Linux provides a wide range of development tools and libraries, making it a favorite among developers for coding, testing, and deploying applications.
  3. Security: Linux’s open-source nature and strong community scrutiny make it a secure choice for sensitive applications, such as penetration testing and security research.
  4. Embedded systems: Linux is used in many embedded systems, like routers, set-top boxes, and other IoT devices, due to its small footprint and customizability.
  5. Supercomputing: Linux powers many of the world’s fastest supercomputers, thanks to its scalability and performance.
  6. Old hardware: Linux can breathe new life into older hardware, making it a great option for reviving older computers.

These are just a few examples of Linux’s many use cases. Its flexibility, customizability, and community support make it a popular choice for a wide range of applications.

Linux

I’m very happy with Linux Mint I have used it before, it’s very easy to install. I didn’t go for dual boot, I installed the whole thing on my hard drive, I have 800 gigs to play with.

Kali Linux – removed

Update: Linux Mint Installed

Update: Installed Linux Mint it’s up and running, just have to install some stuff.

Update: tried installing Debian wouldn’t work was errors. Going to try and install Mint.

I’m removing kali from my computer today, I have decided that I don’t want to learn Cyber Security anymore, as it is a long learning curve and you need to put time into it, which I don’t have. So I’m going to try and install Debian, as I hear it’s good for Web Development. I will let you’s know how I got on.
